This picture was taken while kayaking near Prospect Point off the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula. While the water was crowded with ice chunks, there were also many small icebergs that had rolled many times creating beautiful ice sculptures.

Our guide spotted a giraffe in labor in the cold, dark dawn. There was not a dry eye as we watched an hour of labor, then an hour while the baby struggled to rise, and finally joined in play with another newborn.
